Hoover Pole Buildings

Hoover Pole Buildings, Inc.

James (Jim) Hoover and Carl Shealy, Owners

Jim Hoover became involved in the pole building business in 1968 while living in Wisconsin. A friend had encouraged him to sell pole buildings part-time. In order to learn all he could about the construction of pole buildings, he went to work with a construction crew. Shortly after he made the decision to go into the business of selling and constructing pole buildings. The weather in Wisconsin made it difficult to work year-round so he decided to move his family and business to his home state of South Carolina. After his move to South Carolina several of his brothers joined in the business. After 25 years of success in the pole building business he decided to retire and sell his share of the company. (This company is still going strong in South Carolina) His retirement lasted about a year and he decided it was time for a change. He and his wife, Diana, had a place in Terrell Texas and decided to move there leaving South Carolina.

Carl Shealy began building pole buildings while still in high school. He worked on Jim's crew during summer vacations. After graduating, he became a bull rider on the rodeo circuit and was successful for several years. When he decided he had enough, he returned home and started working for another pole building company. A few years later he started a business of his own. He married Jim Hoover's daughter Wendy and moved to Texas also.

Jim and Carl decided to go into business together and started Hoover Pole Buildings, Inc. in Kaufman Texas. Jim manages sales and the office while Carl manages the construction crews.
